Takers not Makers

Interesting article in the Wall Street Journal: We've Become a Nation of Takers, Not Makers.

We need a different name for government jobs and private sector jobs. They shouldn't be equivalently considered as "jobs". Creating private sector jobs is substantially more important to the growth of our economy. Politicians often lump them together when they are fighting for some pork barrel project. They cite how this bill or that bill will create hundreds of "jobs" but they really mean government jobs. It would be better to see legislation that results in more private sector manufacturing jobs or more farming jobs. It seems like adding government jobs is typically a net drain on our economy rather than a positive.
